A Conspiracy to Love: Living A Life of Joy, Generosity, and Power, By River Smith

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

First, this is a self-transformation book. It is a "glass-could-be-half-full" book if you have the courage to (ful) fill it. Refreshingly, any political or otherwise dogmatic agenda you might intuit as subtext is, in fact, not implicit. Smith's text and subtext are both explicitly the project of creating conditions equality and coexistence: for everyone. He addresses the way we eat, speak, move, think and interact with others, suggesting ways not only to make yourself and others happier and more productive, but also to get what you want. So it is altruistic and constructively selfish; or self-empowering is perhaps more appropriate.

Smith cites real examples from his experience as a social activist and a therapist. He provides practical explanations, sometimes with open ended questions meant to provoke thoughtfulness or simply because such self and social transformations can be complex and require the reader to do the work. There are times when these examples spring seemingly out of the blue, yet Smith does so with the useful effect of a re-sensitizing shock to the system; overcoming indifference to the suffering of others, distant or near, is part of his project. Midway through the book, a cogent philosophy emerges as a symbiosis between self and world.

A Conspiracy to Love: Living a Life of Joy, Generosity, and Power is a conspiracy because it threatens the passive way individuals and cultures continue to accept suffering and how we reluctantly or unconsciously pass this ideology on to future generations. In this sense, Smith's book is more than a self-help, make-you-feel-better-about-your-place-in-the-world guide. Smith's project is revolutionary in its call to expose the conditions that make suffering and hate possible; this exposing exposition challenges the reader to change his or her way of thinking and extend that personal transformation to a that of analogous conditions in the world.

Smith's reciprocating, dual process begins with deconstructing the individual, revealing the conditions which prevent the individual from becoming more loving, open and confident. The newly authentic individual is then primed to extend that selfness to others, generosity being, fortuitously, a natural inclination for happier, self-reliant people. This reciprocating dualism is not a dichotomy. The integrated self and social transformations will necessarily reflect on and reconstruct each other, reinscribing conditions more conducive to love than hate in personal and social realms. This self-world progression (paying it forward) is necessarily self-reliant and becoming generous.

For the most part, the book doesn't promote a political ethos, but the book does express the need for social change and the need to end persecution of women, homosexuals, African-Americans, and the list goes on. Yes, he does mention the gross inequality between the 1 and the 99 percent. But, for readers who may cringe at reading anything seemingly antithetical to their beliefs, the book is not inherently political. His analogies stay consistent to the point expressed in the subtitle: constructing and redistributing conditions for joy and generosity. Subsequent redistributions of power and wealth will take care of themselves.

The Magic Of Thinking Big - Book Review

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

The Magic Of Thinking Big is probably one of the best motivational books ever written. It is first published in 1959 by David Schwartz. More than 4 million copies have been sold. Millions of people throughout the world have improved their lives using the ideas written in this book.

It presents a carefully-designed program for getting the most out of your life. It teaches you how to set your goals high and how to achieve them. This is a book about thinking big and setting some big goals for your life because When you set some big goals and take some actions to achieve them, your confidence level goes up, your income goes up and you feel more relaxed and happier. The small goals do not bring all these differences.

But some time when you find yourself surrounded by troubles and worries, your thinking will shrink in size and you will start thinking small. You will think that setting big goals does not make any difference in your life. By reading and using methods described in this book you will find ways for staying big during good and bad times.

No matter what you do in your life, what is your occupation; you can think big and achieve bigger goals by reading this book. This book will give you useful methods, not empty promises.

1. Believe You Can Succeed And You Will

Success means achievement of a worthy goal. Success may mean different to different people as different people may have different goals. Do you want to become Successful? If you want to become successful, first of all you should figure out what are your goals, What are the things that you want to achieve in your life? Don't think small when setting goals. Set Big Goals!

Every human being wants to become successful. The desire to become successful is the prime desire for most people. Do you want to have the best, this life can deliver. Wishing only to achieve success is not enough, you have to believe that you can succeed and achieve your goals. However when you truly believe you can do it, the how to do it will reveal itself.

How To Develop The Power Of Belief

• You become what you think most of the time. If you think about success and your goals most of the time, You will surely become successful but if you think about failures most of the time that's what you will get most of the time. When you face a difficult situation, think about your goals and say to yourself "I will win", don't say to yourself that "I will probably lose."

• This is magical quote and boosts a lot of confidence in you. Always remind yourself regularly that "I am better than I think I am."

• The size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. Successful people are not superman. They just dream big and have belief in themselves to turn their dreams into reality.

2. Cure Yourself Of Excusitics, The Failure Disease

Have you ever seen a person who blames others for his failure? Whenever you find someone who blames politicians and taxes for his poverty, you must understand that this person is suffering with the disease of making excuses for the failures.

The author calls this disease "Excusitics." All the unsuccessful people have this disease but it is rare to find this disease in the successful people. The more successful the individual, the less inclined he is to make excuses. If you think you too are suffering with the disease of making excuses for your failures then to cure yourself from this disease, Follow the below written tips:

• Do not think that you have a bad health. Do not talk with your friends about your health. Do some health exercise daily.

• If you are not happy with your life then set some goals and make an action plan. Do some hard work to improve your life. Remind yourself regularly that "it is better to wear out than rust out."

• When you see other successful people you think they are more intelligent than you but it is not true. They are just focusing on some of the best things of their life; they are working hard to improve their skills. You can also do the same. Don't underestimate your brain power. Try to focus on few important things.

• You are using less than 10% of your brain power. The more you use your brain, the sharper it will become. Never underestimate your own intelligence and never overestimate the intelligence of others.

• Adopt the good habits and think about only good things. In few days you will have a positive mental attitude. Your attitude is more important than your intelligence.

• Don't think that you are old and can't start your life from Zero. Always look at your present age positively. Think "I am still Young." A person of 40 years of age has 60% of productive life ahead of him.

• This is the law that you must accept if you want to become successful. The law of cause and effect says that anything good or bad that is happening in your life is the result of previous actions. You are responsible for your life. You will reap whatever you are sowing.

3. Build Confidence And Destroy Fear

To build confidence and destroy fear, first of all you have to identify what are your fears. You must recognize your fear to conquer them. For example if you have fear of losing your job, you should improve your working skills and save some money in the bank.

To conquer fear you need to develop your confidence and remember no one is born with confidence. You can develop your confidence by setting some goals and achieving them. You Can Convert Your Fears In Confidence By Taking Following Actions

• If you are in sales business and you fear of losing an important client then work doubly hard to give him better service.

• If you have fear of failing in exams then study hard and get good grades.

• If your appearance is not good, then go to a barbershop or beauty saloon. Shine your shoes. Wear good quality clothes.

• If you are afraid of making wrong investments, Consult with professional advisors, Analyze all the factors then make a decision and stick with it.

Apply These 5 Confidence-Building Techniques -

1) Be a front seater. In every class and seminar, try to sit in the front row. It will boost your confidence and you will understand better what the speaker is explaining.

2) Practice making eye contact. You need to make eye contact with other person to show him that you are confident and honest. If you don't make eye contact with other person it means you are hiding something or you feel inferior.

3) Walk 25% Faster. You can develop confidence by walking 25% faster than your normal speed. When you walk faster other people think that you are confident and you know what you are doing.

4) Practice speaking up. In every condition when you are afraid of speaking, you must speak. The more you speak up, the more you add to your confidence and it will be easier to speak up next time.

5) Smile Big. When you have a big smile on your face it means that you are an important person and you like other people. A big smile will make you feel happier and relax. Try to smile big now and you will feel better.

Final Thoughts On This Book

This book is a very beautifully written with short stories. It is worth ten times more than what you will pay to buy it. This book will be one of the best books you will ever read to achieve success in any area of your life.

Book Review: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

This book was a highly recommended to me by someone very close to me. Evidently she had determined that I was not at that time living my life very effectively.

It's difficult to admit, but she was right. Therefore I embarked on a journey through this book with an open mind and an eagerness to learn absorb anything I possible could from this book. I managed to plow through it in an a day or too.

The primary reason for that is that most of the book is filler. While the basic concepts are sound, the author spends a gratuitous amount of time hammering the point home. He accomplishes this mainly by sharing stories from her personal life in which he applied the principles to obtain positive results. Some of these stories, such as one in which he relates teaching his young son about responsibility are endearing and entertaining to read. While others, quite frankly, make the author seem impossibly arrogant.

A strong focus of the book is on time management, but I can't say I agree with the authors thoughts on this matter. He present and impractically (and needlessly) complex version of a day-planner, and it is this writers opinion that his justification for why it is superior to any other standard day planner are flimsy at best. Further to that, despite the book having been supposedly revised and updated, this information is horribly out of date in the days of Google calender and the ilk.

On thing I really did like, however, is the authors use of the "time management matix." The matrix is a group of four quadrants which are: important and urgent, important but not urgent, unimportant and urgent, and unimportant and not urgent.

Covey argues that we has humans have great difficult doing anything that is important unless it is also urgent, while at the same time we excel at doing things that are not important and not urgent. An example of the former category would be meetings, deadlines, etc., while examples of the latter are playing games or watching TV.

Consequently, he argues, important but non- urgent activities go by the wayside, such as personal planning and development, relationships, etc.

He has a point, but I don't necessarily agree with his assessment of what activities are time wasters. I think the purpose of life is to enjoy it, and the only truly wasted time is time spent doing things we don't want to do and don't enjoy. Sadly we don't live in a perfect world and out survival depends on us wasting at least some of our time on this earth.

I was also put off with the author's pushing of Christianity throughout the book. The book itself is not sold in the religion section, and it seemed off and unnecessary for the author to share his religion at all. It just wasn't relevant.

Overall I wouldn't go so far as to *not* recommend this book. I can see a lot of people benefiting from it. For me, however, it was derivative, and in the end, kind of boring.

The Limelight is about living life creatively and finding inspiration to do so. It is not restricted to any one narrow focus, and so you will find articles here on topics ranging from money to food to photography, and anything else that contributes to amazing lifestyle design.

Jonathan Timar is a naturally creative person. Creativity is his life's blood. He's an actor and filmmaker, a writer and a photographer. He is also a graduate of broadcasting school. He is and avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction. His favourite novel of all time is Tai-Pan by James Clavell followed closely by Shogun, also by James Clavell.

Psycho Cybernetics Book Review

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Psycho-Cybernetics is a classical Self-Help book written by Maxwell Maltz in 1960. Most of the current authors and speakers are highly influenced by the wisdom of this book. Most Olympic players have accepted in interviews that they followed the psychological training of this book to perform better and achieve their goals.

Who Is Maxwell Maltz?

Maxwell Maltz was a plastic surgeon, he found an amazing thing about "Self-Image", he found that everyone of us has an self-Image of ourselves and we treat others accordingly. When you change a man's face by plastic surgery, you almost invariably change his personality, his behavior and sometime even his talents and abilities.

But some patients showed no change in personality after surgery, they continued to feel inadequate and inferior. They continued acting as if they still have an ugly face.

What Is "Self-Image"?

The Self-image is the individual's mental and spiritual concept or picture about himself. It includes your beliefs, your abilities and deficiencies. The Self-image defines what you can and cannot do. You can develop your Self-image and thus the development of the Self-image can bring new capabilities, talents and literally the capacity to turn failure into success.

According to this theory, ideas which are inconsistent with our system are rejected and not acted upon by our mind due to our self-created Self-image. Only the ideas which are consistent with the system are accepted. For example if a student has trouble learning math, it is because he has created a Self-image that I don't have a mathematical mind. If you could change students' beliefs about math and teach him some simple methods to solve the math problems. His attitude would change towards that subject and he would start learning math.

According to the survey, there are 35-45 year-old women who are convinced that they look Old even though their appearance is perfectly normal. 90% of the college students are dissatisfied with their appearance. The reason is the Self-image. They have created a false self-image of themselves.

If you want to improve your life, you must know about your self-image, To create a better self-image of yourself, you must know your strengths and weaknesses. You must be honest when evaluating your strengths and weaknesses. Your Self-image must be reasonable approximation of you, Being neither more than you are, nor less than you are.

How The Sub-Conscious Mind Works?

The mind is divided in two parts - conscious mind and sub-conscious. The "Sub-conscious Mind" is a goal-striving servo-mechanism that we all have. It works automatically to achieve goals of success and happiness or unhappiness and failure, depending upon the goals which you yourself set for it.

Once you have set some goals for yourself, your sub-conscious mind will find the ways to achieve them. You can set goals in your "Sub-conscious Mind" only by mental pictures through visualization.

To set your goals in the sub-conscious mind, you must visualize how you would feel after achieving your goals, what you would do, what type of job or business you would be doing and in which city you would be living? The "Sub-conscious Mind" seeks to achieve the mental images or mental pictures which we create by the use of imagination.

To Bring Success And Happiness In Your Life You Need To Do These Two Things-

1. Develop an adequate and realistic "Self-image".

2. Use your "Sub-conscious Mind" to achieve your goals.

Animals cannot select their goals, their goals are pre-set. We all human being has this amazing gift given by god. We have goal-striving device called sub-conscious mind that help us achieve our goals. But it has one problem that it does not know the difference between good and bad. It will give you exactly what you think most of the time whether it is something good or bad.

Sub-Conscious Mind Works Like A Machine

The god has given this power to man to create anything by directing his sub-conscious mind with his imaginations. You have this incredible machine (Sub-Conscious Mind) which will help you to achieve your goals, you just need to learn how to use it. This machine accomplishes its goals by going forward, making mistakes and continually correcting them till it achieves its goals.

Science Can Build Man's Brain

If the scientist want to build a man's brain they would need at least ten billion electronic cells to build a man's brain. These cells would occupy about a half a million cubic feet and several millions of cubic feet would be needed for wiring. Power required to operate it would be one billion watts.

In the future Scientists may be able to build a man's brain but this brain would lack the power of imagination. It would not be able to set goals, an operator would be needed to feed the data and to run it like today's computer.

Infinite Storehouse Of Ideas

This thing that you are going to read is amazing, many great thinker have believed that man's stored information is not limited to its own memories of past experiences, and learned facts but there is one mind common to all individual men.

It means all the brains are connected with one major brains. You have access to get the knowledge and ideas from other people's brain just by staying with them. We all are being literally engineered for success by the god. We just create a low self-image and think that we can not achieve our goals but in fact we all have sub-conscious already installed by goal that is able to achieve any goal. Every human being has access to a power greater than himself.

To Achieve Any Goal Of Your Life You Must Follow These Steps:

1. You must give a well defined goal to your sub-conscious. You should not be confused about what you want.

2. To set your goal in the sub-conscious you must visualize how would you feel once you have achieved your goal. You must act as you have already achieved your goal.

3. You should not care about how your sub-conscious will achieve your goals. You must have full faith that your success mechanism will find ways to achieve its target.

4. Your sub-conscious mind will make some mistakes but don't be afraid. It is the process of sub-conscious mind to achieve its goal by making mistakes and correcting them continually.

5. You must learn to trust your success mechanism to do its work and not "jam it" with doubtful thoughts.

Final Thoughts On This Book

This book will help you to deprogram yourself from self-doubts and negative beliefs. It will show you a clear way to develop your "Self-image" and reprogram yourself for success. I highly recommend this book if you have any goal that you want to achieve in your life.

By reading this book, you will learn how to use the tools that are needed to achieve your goal, these tools you already have but you are not using them. This book will teach you how to use your success-mechanism to achieve whatever you want in your life.

The Lasting Happiness and Success Formula Review

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Let's get started! To begin with, I want to introduce you to the idea that Joe Rubino will present to you in The Lasting Happiness and Success Formula, the idea is very basic, very easy to grasp but yet hard to reach. Sounds strange that I just pretty much contradicted myself, doesn't it?

It's about self esteem, we all possess the ability to master it. Many of us don't, though. We are lead into a pretty much narrow confidence pattern, well, most of us are. This begins when we're young. We learn how things work and how hard you must work in order to become the best! To become the best, though, everyone tells you that you need the grades and so forth.

Once we grow up and start understanding life a little better, that whole idea of "work and you will succeed" pattern just shatters for many of us - we find ourselves in doubt, we think to ourselves "how am I going to get these types of grades in order to get that education I want? And even if I do, how in the world am I supposed to land that job which I so much want?" That is pretty much the breaking point of many peoples lives. We form a self destructive pattern, well, not as extreme as it might sound but we more or less set our minds to failure mode and that is why many of us, yes, fails.

The Lasting Happiness and Success Formula brings up these matters so that you, yourself can reflect on the matters that are important for you. You can focus on locating your "breaking point" and finding out how you can best argue against the subconscious decision you made that very day you reached your "breaking point".

The Lasting Happiness and Success formula introduces you to several steps and pointers which will in detail describe how you can overcome mental obstacles in your everyday life, how you can boost your confidence and set your mind to success instead of failure, which many of us are set to since that day I earlier in this post mentioned, the "breaking point".

The human brain works in mysterious ways, most of our brainpower is used for the subconscious - and that is exactly why it's so important to understand and locate the most important decisions your subconsciousness is responsible for.

With learning everything in The Lasting Happiness and Success Formula, you'll be well on your way to a more successful life, you might land that job you've always wanted, you might get that girl of your dreams. The opportunities are endless, your only obstacle is your mind! Yes, your own mind can be your enemy unless you understand it!

My Fire's Gone Out! By Liam O'Connell

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

MY FIRE'S GONE OUT! is an excellent parable for our times! Best little book! Half hour read, common sense, inspiration, motivation!! Reminds us 'change'=opportunity. Focus on what matters!

Billed as the NEW 'Who Moved My Cheese', Liam O'Connell uses 'fire' as a metaphor for setting a new focus on what is really important to you, in your life and your work so that you can handle change in whatever guise it presents to you.

Through the device of four aptly named little devils, (read the book..) stoking the fires of hell, the story tells how differently each reacts when sudden and dramatic change interrupts the normal flow of their lives.

Coaches and others will recognise what is happening here but there's great value to be had from sharing this book as a tool to get some key messages across to other people.

Condenses the spirit of self-belief and reinforces in 81 enjoyable pages the timeless truth that with change comes opportunity, provided you take a little time to think, spot it and confidently work it through! Inspirational and Motivational. Peppered with common sense and realism. A refreshingly light treatment of a sometimes all too heavy topic! (More please!!)

'Thoughts from the flames' is a neat device to pr?cis and remind us all of the fundamentals of change and the positive action we can take to keep our fire (and our passion) alive.

Handy pocket sized self-help or help others little book you can take anywhere anytime, delightfully illustrated pages also reveals the moving and inspiring story around the team behind the book. I can't wait for the imminent video!

Promoted as the NEW 'Who Moved My Cheese' and a One Hour read, during my lunch I finished this in 30 enjoyable minutes, my 'Best Little Read' so far of 2010. I still cannot explain it but I felt so energised after reading My Fire's Gone Out! I'm a highly motivated, positive and optimistic individual and yet there was still something 'je ne sais quoi' for me!

We know that it's not change per se that's necessarily the challenge but definitely how we react to it that matters. For example, when faced with serious illness that has no cure but can be 'managed', my own reaction has been to say, 'I will not look or behave like I am ill' because I know this would have a negative impact for me and adverse effects on other people. But also by taking this attitude we manage to summon up from somewhere deep within us resources that no-one would believe possible. And we all have this innate ability - it's a personal choice whether or not we use it to achieve our potential. I'd love young people to read this before they get too set in their ways! Buy and read My Fire's Gone Out! Enjoy it! Refresh the parts that other little devils cannot! Do family, friends, schools, everyone, a favour. Share it! Get the spark back to relight your fire, and remember to keep your fire burning!

Highly Recommended

Book Review Of "Change Your Habits - Change Your Life"

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

If you are one of the many people in this country that suffers from obesity, nicotine addiction or drinking too much then you already know first hand what a bad habit can do to you, your family and your way of life. Of course there are a lot of so-called miracle cures out there but if they really worked then why do people need more than one of them? In any case in the rest of this article I will be doing a review of a book that offers the opportunity of getting past your bad habits and changing them for more positive ones.

Introducing "Change Your Habits - Change Your Life"
I came across this book while perusing the "Advice & Hot-To" section on the Amazon book store. I was looking for information to give to a friend that is having issues losing weight and keeping it off. In my opinion a permanent type of change usually means making a change to lifestyle. In this specific situation I wanted them to come to this realization themselves rather than me offering it. I read some reviews and then settled on four books I thought would suffice. After quickly skimming them I settled on the "Change Your Habits-Change Your Life" one. The main reason was that it seemed to be complete and offered a plan.

Book Summary
The book was written around the idea that change when it is permanent is enacted through six stages. It is written in two parts and comes complete with worksheets, flowcharts and other graphic aids. In the first part it goes into detail for each of the six change stages and provides examples or anecdotes that illustrate the stage being examined in that chapter. In the first part of the book the chapters are each followed by a recap section that has 3-5 points of interest that the reader should keep in mind about that chapter. In the second part of the book the author has provided a daily plan of action complete with worksheets that the reader can use to get rid of a bad habit. There is also a quick starter plan that deals with improving relationships, losing weight, improving finances and improving well-being.

What I Liked
The two things I liked most about the book was the style of writing and the intent to be more of a "how-To" guide versus a "what to do" guide. The author clearly put time and effort into making sure that the reader got a clear explanation of how change worked and then offered a systematic way to actually implement it.

By offering the reader two parts it gives them the choice to delve into learning the reasons behind change when it works or just getting into the detailed action plan that is part of the book. This type of book formatting lends itself to people actually using the information in the book rather than just reading it. It can also be a big time saver for those skimming.

What I Didn't Like
When it came to discussing how to improve relationships, losing weight, improving finances and improving well-being the author gave some good examples of how to use his system of change to implement. But they were brief and I would have liked to have had more anecdotal information for each one. I fully understand that each of these subjects could and probably should be a separate book on their own.

This book has a lot of information in it. I can see the author was trying to include everything they thought was important to the reader on the subject. I think it would have been better served to have a series of smaller reports that were all related. I think this is the reason the author includes a chapter recap and diagrams throughout. To make sure the reader is able to follow everything.

Final Word

7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Character Is the Key

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

For more than two decades, this modern time management classic by Stephen Covey has already touched millions of lives by providing practical tips on managing their time and resources. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has reached the "phenomenal" level with a long list of achievements, one of which is being named by Time Magazine as one of the twenty-five most influential books of all time in the field of business management in the year 2011.

Simply put, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is divided into three different sections: self-mastery, dealing with other people, and renewal of oneself. All in all, the book consists of seven major chapters, with titles that became so popular; Stephen Covey has to register a trademark for each chapter title under his name.

The section on self-mastery revolves around three concepts: being practical and positive (Chapter 1: Be Proactive), having clear goals (Chapter 2: Begin with an End in Mind), and having a sense of priority (Chapter 3: First Things First). This section of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People actually presents a lot of challenges to the individual that will result to being an effective person, not just in the context of work, but also in dealing with other people and handling personal concerns. It also helps one appreciate the true value of his/her time.

The subsequent section of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People places its focus on how to work with other people. Made up of three chapters, this particular section addresses specific and real concerns on: beneficial agreements or conflict resolution (Chapter 4: Think Win-Win), the lost skill of listening with sincerity (Chapter 5: Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood), the true value of teamwork and cooperation (Chapter 6: Synergize). Mastery of the second section will make an individual an effective team player who promotes a positive outlook when it comes to work, among other things.

The last section and chapter of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People entitled Sharpening the Saw gives helpful tips on how not to grow tired of being effective. Mastery of the skills of a highly effective person requires a lot of patience and discipline and this, among many other things are shared by this particular section.

What makes this self-help book different is its style of conveying its message to its readers. It does not sound preachy or prescriptive in any way. Actually, it has fun ways of imparting the important techniques to its audience. It can be considered as a work book for adults because of its light approach in developing one's character in promoting personal growth.

Despite the fact that this book has kept its magic despite the fact that it has been in the shelf for quite sometime now is its undying significance and relevance. It is anchored on real situations and many people found genuine help from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It has been proven as the effective book for effective people. Proofs of its success are its sequels, First Things First and The 8th Habit.

The Secret of Ages is the best book that I have read this year so far on personal development. This book is written by Robert Collier. By reading this book review, you will gain many profound insights about how your conscious and sub-conscious mind work? How you can get what you want in your life? What are the secrets of success? Everything you need to know about success and wealth, you will find written here in this book review...

The World's Greatest Discovery

Do you know what is the most significant discovery of this modern age? My be you are thinking about the computer, wireless, airplane and electricity. According to this book, the world's greatest discovery is that any man can learn how to apply the Law of attraction to get anything he desires - health, happiness, riches or achievement of any goal. No matter if you believe in the Law of Attraction or not, this Law is continually working in your life.

According to the Law of Attraction, you attract the things and circumstances into your life on which you give most of your attention, whether these things are positive or negative. In other words, you always get what you think most of the time. You attract in your life people, situations and circumstances that are in perfect harmony with your thoughts. By examining carefully your thoughts and your current situation, you will surely find out that all your present circumstances are the result of your past thoughts.

The Life Principle

The whole purpose of our existence is GROWTH. If you are not learning or growing daily, it means you are dying. Life is always about moving forward. Life always wants you to achieve more and more. Egypt and Persia, Greece and Rome, all the great empires perished when they ceased to grow. If you are reading this article, it means you are one of those few people who are not ready to stand still, who want to grow and achieve more.

You should take up some violent form of exercise, running, tennis and swimming. In the beginning, your muscles are weak and they will tire soon. You will fail pain in your muscles but after some days as you keep practicing, you will become stronger and faster. Now you will understand the life principle that is working behind your every act. You should understand that there is a superman inside you. You should give him daily some tough tasks and in few days those tough tasks will become easier.

All successful people understood early in their life that the life principle is working in their life. This life principle makes no distinction between rich and poor. Anyone who will apply this principle will get reward. This principle is always ready to make you stronger and richer if you are willing to do all you can do. The greater your desire for riches and the more determined you are, the sooner you will achieve your goals.

Three Parts Of Your Mind

Now that you have understood that there is huge potential lying inside you, you must learn how to discover your unlimited power, the power to be what you want to be, to get what you desire and to achieve all your goals. Professor Wm. James, the world-famous Harvard psychologist, estimated that average man uses only 10% of his mental power.

Most people do not know that mind can be divided in three part - 1) Conscious mind, 2) Subconscious mind and 3) Universal Mind.

1) Conscious Mind

When you say, "I see-I hear-I smell-I touch" it is your conscious mind that is saying this. This part of your mind is the smallest part of your mind (about 10%). 90% of your mind is subconscious. Most people know nothing about the subconscious mind and its capacity. They try to live their life by using only 10% of their mind.

2) Subconscious Mind

Can you tell me how much water, how much salt and how much other elements should be in your body to live an ordinary life. No? Do not worry, your subconscious mind knows it all. It has almost unlimited power not only for keeping you in perfect health but also for attracting all the good things you think most of the time. The subconscious mind does not decide and command. Its nature is to do what it is told. If you are able to tell it what you want, it will do all to bring your desired things in your life.

You can reach to your subconscious mind by thinking most of the time about the things you want. To learn something new you need subconscious mind, for example when you learn piano, you need to practice enough hours to learn it. You need to repeat again and again until your subconscious mind accept it. Then once your subconscious mind understand that you want it to learn, you will no longer need to give all your attention while playing piano. You just need to learn to handle the task over to the superman inside. It is the same while you learn driving a car, at first you need to give all your attention on the road and brakes and steering and on all the other things. But after driving enough hours, you no longer need to give all your attention, you can talk with the person sitting with you and you can listen music while driving.

3) Universal Mind

To reach your subconscious mind, you need help of your conscious mind and to reach to the universal mind, you need the help of your subconscious mind. Have you ever wondered how this whole world is working and growing? Population of the world growing daily, many species of animals are disappearing and many new animals are taking birth daily. How trees are able to convert carbon dioxide gas into oxygen? There is the Universal Mind that is creating all these things. You may give it any name - God, Allah, spirit or any other name. This universal mind is working in every form of plant, in animal and also in human beings. This universal mind is in you and within everyone.

The easiest way to reach this universal mind is by prayer. When you pray, you form a mental image of the things you desire and you hold it strongly in your thoughts. You repeat this process many times until it reaches to The Universal Mind. The Universal Mind is all around you as the air you breathe. It offers everything to everyone without any partiality. The only limits are of your own mind. You will receive whatever you think most of the time. Very few people know about this secret and they take full advantage of the power of the Universal Mind.

You Are Creating Your Life

Every condition, every experience of the your life is the result of your own mental attitude. Believe it or not you are the creator of your life. The universal mind that has created this whole world is also working inside you. Everything is first an idea in the mind of someone. You can not create anything without first thinking about that. The secret of all riches, happiness and success is in first thinking powerful thoughts of riches, happiness and success.

You can think only two types of thoughts - 1) Positive thoughts, 2) Negative thoughts. You can create a beautiful and successful life by thinking positive thoughts most of the time or you can make your life a hell by thinking negative thoughts most of time. Choice is yours. Just as the most powerful forces in nature are invisible - heat, light, air, electricity - so the most powerful forces of human mind are invisible- his thoughts. The power for happiness, for good, for everything we need of life is within each of us.

To create a beautiful life, you must realize that you have complete control over just one thing in your life that is your conscious mind. During your waking hours, you must visualize and think positively. Everything you are saying, watching and listening, you are adding to the content of your subconscious mind. Your life will be richer or poorer for the thoughts and deeds of your daily life.

So How Can You Get More Money?

First of all, you must understand what is money? Money is a mere idea of your mind. For many thousand years Gold and silver have been used as the money. But you would be surprised to know that all the paper money is supposed to represent so much gold or silver currency. There are billions upon billions of this paper money in circulation, yet all the gold in the world amounts to only about $8 billion. Wealth is in ideas not in money and the good news is that you can control those money making ides through your mind. You can read good books and listen good programs that can provide you money making ideas. When you will start to look upon money from this prospective, you will have all the money you want.

Final Thoughts On This Book

Some key points worth repeating are - You have a mind. You can originate thoughts. Your thoughts are creating your life. You can think both types of thoughts, positive or negative thoughts. Positive thoughts will bring happiness and prosperity in your life while your negative thoughts will lead you to failure. You are born to grow and win. Most people have no knowledge of their thought power which is responsible for all the circumstances of their life. Consider the difference between people who know how to use the unlimited power of Subconscious and Universal Mind and those who have no knowledge.

You do not need to pass your life in hope of winning a lottery some day. You must take small actions daily. You must try to discover your inner power. You should learn to control your thoughts and image upon your mind only those things that you want to see realized. Your present circumstances are the result of your thoughts of your past. If you want to make your future richer and brighter then I encourage you to buy and read this book.

"Outwitting the Devil" - Why You Need to Read It Now

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

"Fear is the tool of a man-made devil." -Napoleon Hill

This long locked away book from Napoleon Hill is now available to people at the time in which it is needed. In this newly published classic Napoleon Hill divulges that he broke the Devil's Code. He forced the Devil to declare his secrets. The Devil reveals the details of how he baits the trap into which humans blindly and willing walk.

As background, Hill starts the book by taking us through his life and what led him to have this conversation. "Outwitting the Devil" is written interview style. Hill questions the Devil and the Devil must provide the answer. For those familiar with Hill's mastermind meetings, it is easy to imagine Hill sitting comfortably with notebook in hand, tenaciously interviewing the Devil.

In his classic style Napoleon Hill digs deep, posing specific questions to the Devil, to identify the greatest obstacles we each face in reaching our personal goals: fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy. Hill gets the Devils to reveal how he uses the methods of control to lead people to ruin. Hill also reveals the seven principles that will allow us to triumph over the tricks the Devil uses and permit us to succeed.

Hill offers us a perceptive look at how we willingly hand over our fates to negative thoughts, passive acceptance, and physical pain; how the choices we make lead us down a path of destruction. In summary Hill highlights three important factors which hold unaltered the destinies of all men.

I have often heard that "When the student is ready the teacher will appear". I really feel that the world was not ready for the revelations in this great work seventy years ago when Hill wrote these words. At Hill's request this manuscript, typed on a manual typewriter was kept hidden for nearly seven decades. It was written before many of us were born. I believe that it was saved for our generation; that this book has been released now, in these economic times so that we could reap the full benefit of Hill's work. The information in this book is meant for us today. Now is the perfect time for this masterpieces' publication.

I hope that you will find these secrets wrested from the Devil will unlock the doors of your self-made prison. This book is the key that will unlock the door. It holds keys for each of us to use to outwit the Devil in our own life. Our only limitations are self-imposed.

Like Hill, we are here to master our fears, to live passionately and with purpose. Don't wait; read "Outwitting the Devil".

Robert Fritz and Unconscious Competence

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

In his book: The Path of Least Resistance, Robert Fritz identifies four levels of competence. Fritz is not the first to make these identifications... but I mention him because nobody I know of has explained this idea better. These competences can be applied to virtually any area of one's life, where one is trying to master a new skill (or competence).

There are four competences: 1) Unconscious Incompetence, 2) Conscious Incompetence, 3) Conscious Competence 4) Unconscious Competence.

1) Unconscious Incompetence is the level one is at when not only do you not know something... but you do not know, that you do not know.

2) Conscious Incompetence is the level one is at when one is presented with what they don't know, so they are suddenly aware of their incompetence... They now know, that they do not know.

3) Conscious Competence is the level one is at when one strives to learn the skill in which they were previously only consciously incompetent... and reaches a level of competence that requires conscious concentration and awareness.

4) Unconscious Competence can be said to be the level of the master. One has become so efficient in carrying out the conscious actions that it becomes effortless and one no longer has to think consciously about those actions.

A simple way of proceeding to explain these different states of competence is through the simple process of tying shoelaces... Adults can be said to be at the level of unconscious competence in the skill of shoelace tying. Infants below a certain age are of course ignorant in this skill, they are not only ignorant in the skill of tying shoelaces... they are unaware that shoelace tying even exists as an activity... they are unconsciously incompetent. Once they are shown the skill of tying a shoelace by an adult, they reach the level of conscious incompetence... they now know that the skill exists but they are incompetent in the skill. Through repeated demonstration and practice they finally learn to tie a shoelace... but the first few times they do it... they have to think consciously about every move in the process... thinking to themselves as they proceed... should the first loop go over the second for example. But after a few goes it suddenly clicks and the information passes over and gets stored in the subconscious memory as permanent knowledge and the skill passes from conscious competence to unconscious competence.

These levels of competence can be applied and learned as a skill set in their own right... and I highly recommend Fritz's book.

There is no doubt that these skills are as important in business as in any other endeavor, where learned skills are required. Let us take just one example: learning to market your business through autoresponder newsletter tactics. The goal is to reach a point where one becomes Unconsciously Competent at applying this marketing method. Once you are aware that autoresponder marketing exists as a marketing strategy - you obviously move from unconscious incompetence to conscious incompetence. You may then spend 100's of hours setting up autoresponder campaigns and sending out mass mailings...at first you may find this a conscious grind and effort... but sooner all later something will click and you will find the process effortless and actually easier to do, than not... it will essentially come close to being an automatic process.

The process of reaching this unconscious level of competence in business applies not just to autoresponder tactics but applies right across every area of your business. The business geniuses who seem to have a natural response and a gut feeling for what to do next... have simply reached this level of unconscious competence.

These competence levels are also taken seriously by sports psychologists and the unconscious level of competence, that the greatest sportsman reach is often called the zone. Sportsmen and women will tell you that they are at there best when there moves are not consciously thought out... it just flows naturally. The same could be said for a virtuoso concert pianist. We have all had those rare days where everything we do, just seems to go right... everything is just so easy and natural... it just flows... at those moments we are in 'the zone'.

Are you optimizing your Website/Blog. Optimization is a combination of many things... such as finding good keywords, and then drawing upon good content that is relative to those keywords, and capturing that content and keyword optimization - under the 'umbrella' of your niche.

Personal Development for Smart People by Steve Pavlina - Book Review

Title and Author: Personal Development for Smart People by Steve Pavlina

Subtitle: The Conscious Pursuit of Personal Growth

Synopsis of Content:

In Personal Development for Smart People Steve Pavlina looks at personal development and success with an atypical perspective. This new perspective is influenced by some "new age" concepts and by a more philosophical approach than is typically found in many personal development and success books.

First Pavlina discusses what he considers the Fundamental Principles of personal development: Truth, Love, Power, Oneness, Authority, Courage and Intelligence. Each of these is then broken down into subcategories and explained, both on their own and as they related to one another.

The second part of the book seeks to apply those core principles to how we behave. He focuses on Habits, Career, Money, Health, Relationships and Spirituality. In each of these areas he relates back how the core principles in the first part of the book relate to these personal development ideas.

Throughout this book the author challenges the reader to look within and for many this may be a bit uncomfortable. Some of these exercises may even appear strange or even useless, as when he invites the reader to have a conversation with one's pen. Despite the awkwardness of some of these discussions however the introspection called for in this book can lead to a greater understanding of oneself as well as how these principles should apply to the reader.

The author also discusses some of his own challenges and how he went from sitting in a jail cell to becoming successful in several business ventures. He does not really tie his own success story into the things he teaches in the book very well however.

The book is not technical and does not contain many of the "how to" details that self-help books often stress. The book is more about understanding and conceptual development than it is about the nuts and bolts of time management or planning.

As a book that gets you to think about your own personal growth and development it is good. It is not however a straightforward guide to how to become better at anything in particular.

I gave this book an overall rating of "very good" mostly because it does challenge the reader to think at a deeper level than most self-improvement books do.

Readability/Writing Quality:

The writing is clear and easy to follow. There is a fair amount of redundancy in the last half of the book. It is organized in a manner that makes it easy to follow.

Notes on Author:

Steve Pavlina worked in software development and especially gaming software where he achieved significant success. In recent years he moved his focus to personal development with his blog and website including a large message board with over one million entries.

Three Great Ideas You Can Use:

1. Extensive routine is the enemy of intelligence. One should commit to creative thinking and making positive changes in how one lives one's life to realize genuine development.

2. To achieve genuine personal growth you must embrace truth and reject falsehoods.

3. Though it may be ironic, when one feels disconnected from other people the best cure is to intentionally connect with others.
